What Buddy AI does well

Buddy AI is a strong product, and it is the closest match to our own pricing model that we have reviewed.

Low commission at scale. The Pro plan charges 0% commission, so a busy store pays a flat $99 per month. That is hard to beat, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Proof on the Shopify App Store. Buddy shows 4.8 stars from about 70 reviews and carries the Built for Shopify badge. It launched on April 14, 2025. SparkGPT has no reviews on the App Store yet.

Real commerce actions. Buddy's product page says it can help pick a variant, add it to the cart and continue to checkout. It can also retrieve order status when a shopper gives an email and order reference, and it lists voice shopping.

Honest wording on attribution. Buddy's own FAQ says attribution "does not show whether the purchase would have happened without AI." Few vendors say that, and the warning applies to every tool here, including ours.

Unlimited replies. Every Buddy plan lists unlimited AI replies, visitors, products and store pages. Long conversations do not cost more on either product.

Buddy AI pricing in November 2026

The pricing page lists one free week for eligible new subscriptions. Pro adds one on site audit after six weeks. Enterprise adds an audit every six weeks and a monthly strategy call. The App Store shows one sales strategy on Starter and four on Growth, while the pricing page lists all four on every plan.

SparkGPT has one paid plan.

The math: where the bills cross

Here is what each option costs at different levels of monthly attributed sales, before any discounts. Each row assumes both tools are credited with the same sales.

SparkGPT beats each plan up to a set line: $2,601 against Starter, $1,534 against Growth, $1,920 against Pro and $3,920 against Enterprise. The lowest of those lines is the one that matters, so a store that picks the right Buddy plan pays less than SparkGPT once attributed sales pass about $1,534 a month.

At $20,000 a month the gap is about $900. If your store is steady and growing on Shopify, and you do not plan to discount, Buddy Pro is the cheaper bill.

SparkGPT's case is the opposite end. A new store, a seasonal store or a side business pays $2.99 in a month with no attributed sales, compared with at least $29. Take a store with eight quiet months and four months at $1,000 in attributed sales. SparkGPT costs $235.88 across the year. Buddy Starter costs $508 if you keep it running. You can cancel a subscription in quiet months, of course, but then the agent is gone when traffic returns.

The cost that commission does not show: discounts

Commission is only one line. Buddy started as a discount negotiator, and its App Store address still says so. Its Conversion Agent can offer shoppers discounts within limits you set, and a Buddy help article says that "on average, it closes sales at around a 15% discount."

Discounts can be worth paying for. A shopper who would have left is worth more at 15% off than not at all. The risk is the shopper who would have paid full price anyway, because that discount comes straight out of your margin.

Here is an invented example: a $100 order with a $60 product cost, assuming commission is charged on the amount paid. Monthly fees are left out.

Two lessons follow. If Buddy sells at full price, Pro keeps $5 more per order than SparkGPT. If it sells at the average 15%, SparkGPT's 5% costs less than the discount, and you would need about 1.4 discounted orders to match one SparkGPT order.

You control much of this. Buddy offers four sales strategies. Revenue Accelerator is described as the "most aggressive use of discounts," Margin Guard as "strict, controlled discounting," Advisory Mode as "minimal, context-based incentives," and Lead Collection discounts after capturing an email. You can set a default and override it per product, and you can limit discounts by collection. Whichever tool you choose, check the average discount on attributed orders every month, not just the fee.

What counts as an attributed sale?

This is where the two products differ most, and where Buddy's documents need a closer look.

SparkGPT's rule is one sentence. When a visitor chats with the agent, the session is tagged. If that visitor orders within 24 hours, the order is attributed, listed in the ROI dashboard and charged at 5%. If nobody buys, you pay the $2.99 base. Growth runs on prepaid credits, where 1 credit equals $1, and the agent pauses if the balance reaches zero. See our pricing page for the details.

Buddy's rule depends on which page you read. The pricing page says commission applies to "Buddy AI-attributed sales only" and defines those as purchases "associated with an interaction with Buddy." The App Store says "AI-generated sales." A billing help article is narrower: a shopper must talk to Buddy, accept an offer and complete the purchase with a checkout link Buddy generated. Another article says a sale still counts if Shopify swaps Buddy's code for a larger one at checkout. We did not find a time window on any Buddy page.

The narrower rule could work in your favor, because fewer orders would carry commission, which would move the crossover points above. But it was written around the negotiation flow, and we cannot tell how it applies to the newer sales agent. A SparkGPT rule that counts every order within 24 hours of a chat may also catch orders the agent did not cause. Some older help articles also disagree with the pricing page. One says there is no monthly subscription fee. Others describe a freemium plan at 4% with a $5,000 monthly cap, or at 4.5% on discount code sales. We treat the pricing page as current. Ask Buddy to confirm the trigger in writing, and ask what the "usage-based charges" on the App Store listing cover on your plan.

Pick Buddy AI if you are on Shopify, your agent is likely to drive more than about $1,534 a month, or you want discount negotiation, order lookup and a long review history. If you expect well above $2,500 a month in attributed sales, start your estimate with the Pro plan.
