SparkGPT vs Gorgias (2026): Helpdesk With AI, or Pay Per Sale?

The short answer: Gorgias is a customer support helpdesk built for ecommerce, with an AI Agent you add on top. Gorgias says you pay for AI Agent only when it fully resolves a conversation on its own: $0.90 per resolved conversation on annual billing, or $1.00 on monthly billing, on top of a helpdesk plan that third party breakdowns list from $10 to $900 a month. Its pre purchase role, Shopping Assistant, recommends products and reports sales it influenced within 3 days. SparkGPT is an AI sales agent for your website that charges $2.99 per month plus 5% of attributed sales, using a 24 hour attribution window, with unlimited conversations. If you need a full support desk, Gorgias does far more. If you want a website sales agent whose bill only grows when it sells, SparkGPT costs $2.99 in a month with no sales.

We checked Gorgias's official product summary for AI systems (last updated June 2026), its sales performance help article, its attribution window announcement and two independent pricing breakdowns on October 16, 2026. Gorgias renders plan prices on its pricing page with scripts we could not read directly, so plan prices below are labeled as third party figures.

What Gorgias does well

Gorgias has earned its place in Shopify support, and the comparison should start there.

It is a full helpdesk. Email, live chat, social media, text and voice land in one inbox. Gorgias prices by ticket volume, not by agent seat, which suits stores with seasonal staff.

It is deep inside Shopify. Gorgias describes a two way sync where order, customer and catalog data flow in both directions, and calls itself "Shopify's only Enterprise Premier Partner for CX." Agents can see and act on orders without leaving the ticket.

Its AI sells as well as supports. Shopping Assistant is the pre purchase role of AI Agent. According to Gorgias's help center, its sales report tracks GMV influenced, orders influenced, average order value, discount codes applied, product recommendations and converted recommendations.

You pay for AI outcomes, not attempts. Gorgias's own wording is "You only pay for AI Agent when it fully resolves a conversation on its own." A conversation a human has to finish is not billed as an AI resolution.

If your main problem is answering where is my order, returns and exchanges across five channels with a team, Gorgias is a strong choice and SparkGPT is not a replacement for it.

Gorgias pricing as of October 2026

AI Agent pricing comes from Gorgias's official product summary. Helpdesk plan prices come from DragApp's breakdown (updated October 14, 2026) and CostBench (verified July 1, 2026), which agree with each other.

Gorgias plan Monthly billing Billed yearly, per month Billable tickets per month Extra tickets
Starter $10 Not offered 50 about $0.40 each
Basic $60 $50 300 about $0.40 each
Pro $360 $300 2,000 about $0.36 each
Advanced $900 $750 5,000 about $0.36 each
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom

On top of the helpdesk:

  • AI Agent: $0.90 per AI resolved conversation on annual billing, $1.00 on monthly billing, and from $1.00 on Starter, according to Gorgias. Plans cover 90 to more than 2,500 AI resolved conversations a month.
  • Overage: both DragApp and Getmacha (updated October 13, 2026) report $1.50 per automated interaction past your prepaid AI allowance.
  • What counts: Getmacha's breakdown says a conversation counts as automated when no human needs to step in within 72 hours, and that an AI resolved conversation also counts as a helpdesk ticket.

So the bill has two meters, tickets and AI resolutions, and both rise with conversation volume. A busy week of product questions raises the bill whether those shoppers buy or not.

SparkGPT pricing

Plan Price What you get
Free $0 Build and test one agent, no credit card required, cannot go live
Growth $2.99 per month plus 5% of attributed sales One line of code deployment, unlimited conversations, order level ROI dashboard
Done For You Custom Full setup, brand matched design, Shopify or custom site integration

When a visitor chats with the agent, the session is tagged. Any purchase that visitor makes within 24 hours is attributed to the agent and listed in the ROI dashboard, and the 5% applies only to those orders. A month with many conversations and no attributed sales costs $2.99, or $35.88 over a year.

Growth runs on prepaid credits, where 1 credit equals $1. If the balance runs out, the agent pauses instead of billing you more.

Two attribution windows, two different jobs

Both products attribute sales to the AI, which makes this the most useful part of the comparison.

Gorgias reports on 3 days. Since August 2025, Shopping Assistant and the Revenue Report both use a 3 day attribution window. Before that, the two used 7 days and 5 days. Its help center says an order counts as influenced when "the shopper places an order after a conversation with the AI, with no direct handover to a human agent," and also credits orders that use a Shopping Assistant discount code, add a recommended product or follow a shared link. That number powers an ROI metric in the report. It does not change your invoice.

SparkGPT bills on 24 hours. Our window is shorter on purpose. It misses shoppers who come back on day two or three, so it undercounts rather than overcounts, because the attributed number is what we are paid on. Every dollar of the variable fee maps to an order you can open in the dashboard.

That is the real difference. On Gorgias, attribution tells you whether the AI paid for itself, and the bill is set by resolutions and tickets. On SparkGPT, attribution is the bill. If you want to test either claim yourself, our guide on how to measure chatbot attributed revenue shows how window length moves the number and how to run a holdout.

The math, including where Gorgias wins

SparkGPT costs less only when a month's attributed sales stay below the Gorgias bill minus $2.99, divided by 0.05. The examples below use monthly billing and the third party plan prices above.

Example Gorgias month Bill SparkGPT is cheaper below this much attributed sales
Starter plus 30 AI resolutions at $1.00 $40 $740
Basic plus 150 AI resolutions at $1.00 $210 $4,140
Pro plus 190 AI resolutions at $1.00 $550 $10,940
Advanced plus 530 AI resolutions at $1.00 $1,430 $28,540

Three scenarios:

A small store adding AI before the holidays. On Basic with 150 AI resolutions, Gorgias costs about $210. The agent is credited with $1,500 in sales, so SparkGPT costs $2.99 plus $75, which is $77.99.

A growing store with a support team. On Pro with 190 AI resolutions, Gorgias is about $550. The agent is credited with $6,000, so SparkGPT costs $302.99.

A store where chat already sells a lot. On Basic at $210, the agent is credited with $15,000. SparkGPT costs $752.99, and Gorgias is clearly cheaper. Once attributed sales pass the line in the table, a flat resolution meter is the better deal.

There is a catch the table hides. Gorgias's bill covers support work too: returns, order edits, email. SparkGPT's bill covers only website sales. If you need a helpdesk anyway, the fair comparison is often Gorgias alone versus Gorgias's helpdesk plus SparkGPT on the storefront, not one or the other. Which one should you pick?

Pick Gorgias if you need one place for your team to handle email, chat, social and phone, you want the AI to process order changes and returns, or your chat already sells enough that resolution fees are well under 5% of what it brings in.

Pick SparkGPT if your main gap is pre purchase questions on the website, you do not have a support team to staff a helpdesk, or you would rather pay only when a chat leads to an order you can audit. If you sell on Shopify, our guide to adding an AI sales agent to Shopify covers the setup.

Pick both if Gorgias already runs your support. SparkGPT can answer product questions on the storefront while Gorgias handles tickets after the sale. Run the same ten pre purchase questions through each first, using our pre launch testing checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Gorgias AI Agent cost in 2026?

Gorgias says AI Agent costs $0.90 per AI resolved conversation on annual billing and $1.00 on monthly billing, from $1.00 on Starter, and it is added to a helpdesk plan. Third party breakdowns list helpdesk plans at $10, $60, $360 and $900 a month for 50, 300, 2,000 and 5,000 tickets as of October 2026.

What is Gorgias Shopping Assistant?

It is the pre purchase role of Gorgias AI Agent. It answers product questions, recommends products and can offer discount codes. Gorgias reports orders it influenced within 3 days of the conversation, excluding conversations handed directly to a human agent.

Does Gorgias charge based on sales?

No. Gorgias reports sales influenced by its AI, but the bill comes from helpdesk tickets and AI resolved conversations. SparkGPT bills $2.99 per month plus 5% of sales made within 24 hours of a chat, so its variable fee moves only with attributed sales.

Is SparkGPT cheaper than Gorgias?

It depends on how much chat sells. Against a $210 Gorgias month, SparkGPT is cheaper while attributed sales stay below about $4,140. At $15,000 in attributed sales, Gorgias is cheaper. In a month with no sales, SparkGPT costs $2.99.

Can SparkGPT replace a helpdesk like Gorgias?

No. SparkGPT is a website sales agent. It does not include a shared team inbox, email ticketing or order editing. Many stores keep a helpdesk for after sale support and add SparkGPT on the storefront for pre purchase questions.
