SparkGPT vs Chatty (2026): Pay Per Conversation or Pay Per Sale?
The short answer: Chatty is a popular AI sales chat app for Shopify that charges by the AI conversation. Paid plans start at $19.99 a month for 100 AI conversations, and every conversation over the limit costs $0.40, whether or not the shopper buys. SparkGPT is an AI sales agent that charges $2.99 per month plus 5% of attributed sales, using a public 24 hour attribution window, with unlimited conversations. If chat already drives a lot of revenue in your store, Chatty's flat plans usually cost less. If you want a bill that only grows when the agent sells, SparkGPT costs $2.99 in a month with no sales.
We checked Chatty's pricing page, its pricing help article, its AI conversations help article, its analytics help article, its homepage and its Shopify App Store listing on October 18, 2026. All Chatty prices below are as of October 2026.
What Chatty does well
Chatty is a mature product, and it is positioned for selling, not only for support. Its homepage headline is "The #1 AI Sales Agent for eCommerce."
Merchants rate it highly, at scale. The Chatty AI Chatbot & Live Chat app has a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 1,881 reviews on the Shopify App Store, carries the Built for Shopify badge and has been listed since June 2022. Chatty says more than 5,000 stores chat through it each month.
It has a free plan that actually goes live. The Free plan includes 50 AI conversations a month, unlimited human conversations and AI trained on up to 200 products, with no credit card required. Paid plans add a 7 day free trial.
It covers more channels. The App Store listing describes one inbox for website chat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and email. Paid plans add AI order tracking and translated conversations, and Pro adds an AI shopping assistant.
Its billing unit is fair to long conversations. This is the point most comparison articles miss. Chatty does not charge per message. Its help center says an AI conversation is counted once, when the chat ends, and that one customer counts once per 24 hours. A conversation does not count if the AI found nothing in your content to answer with, or if a human answered first. Welcome messages and ignored proactive messages are free too.
If you want a low cost, well reviewed Shopify chat app with a shared inbox across channels, Chatty is a strong choice.
Chatty pricing as of October 2026
From Chatty's pricing page, its pricing help article and its Shopify App Store listing:
| Chatty plan | Monthly billing | Billed yearly, per month | AI conversations per month | Products the AI can learn | Extra AI conversations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 50 | 200 | AI turns off at the limit |
| Basic | $19.99 | $16.99 | 100 | 1,500 | $0.40 each |
| Pro | $68.99 | $58.99 | 500 | 8,000 | $0.40 each |
| Plus | $199 | $169.99 | 1,000 | Unlimited | $0.40 each |
Three details matter more than the headline price.
Every engaged visitor uses a conversation. A conversation counts when a shopper starts a chat, or replies to a proactive message, and gets at least one answer drawn from your content. That includes shoppers who ask about sizing, shipping or ingredients and then leave. On a store with 300 AI conversations a month, Basic costs $19.99 plus 200 extra conversations at $0.40, which is $99.99. Pro at $68.99 would be cheaper, so the real entry price for a busy store is closer to $68.99 than $19.99.
Paid plans bill overage automatically. Chatty's pricing help article says additional AI conversations "will be automatically charged according to your plan's overage rates." You can set a monthly spending limit anywhere from $1 to $1,000, and it starts at $1,000. When you reach the limit, the AI pauses until the next billing cycle and Chatty emails you. Unused conversations do not roll over.
Third party price lists lag. A Zipchat roundup of Shopify chatbots updated October 12, 2026 lists Chatty Basic with 50 conversations a month. Chatty's own pricing page and App Store listing both show 100. Check the official page before you budget.
SparkGPT pricing
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Build and test one agent, no credit card required, cannot go live |
| Growth | $2.99 per month plus 5% of attributed sales | One line of code deployment, unlimited conversations, order level ROI dashboard |
| Done For You | Custom | Full setup, brand matched design, Shopify or custom site integration |
When a visitor chats with the agent, the session is tagged. Any purchase that visitor makes within 24 hours is attributed to the agent and listed in the ROI dashboard, and the 5% applies only to those orders. A month with 2,000 conversations and no attributed sales costs $2.99, or $35.88 over a full year.
Growth runs on prepaid credits, where 1 credit equals $1. If the balance runs out, the agent pauses instead of billing you more.
One difference cuts the other way, and you should know it before you choose. Chatty's Free plan can talk to real customers. SparkGPT's Free plan is for building and testing only, so going live needs Growth.
Assisted revenue: a headline number, or the bill?
Both companies talk about sales the AI brings in. The difference is what that number does.
Chatty reports assisted revenue but does not publish the rule. Its homepage shows "$61M+" in assisted revenue across its platform between April 2025 and September 2026, and says "7.4% of every chat ends in a sale" for July 2026, both credited to Chatty platform data. We could not find how a sale is linked to a chat, or a time window for crediting it, on the homepage, the pricing page or the help center. Chatty's analytics help article lists conversation totals, resolution rate, AI involved rate, AI resolution rate, answer rate and time saved, but no revenue metric. That does not mean the numbers are wrong. It means you cannot check them against a stated rule, and none of them change what you pay, because the bill is set by conversations.
SparkGPT publishes the rule because it is the bill. The window is 24 hours from the chat, and the 5% is charged only on orders inside it. We chose a short window on purpose. It misses shoppers who come back on day three, so it undercounts rather than overcounts, and every dollar of the variable fee maps to an order you can open in the dashboard.
If you trial both, ask Chatty in writing how assisted revenue is defined, then compare both numbers with your Shopify orders for the same week. Our guide on how to measure chatbot attributed revenue explains how window length changes the result and how to run a simple holdout test.
The math, including where Chatty wins
SparkGPT costs less in any month where attributed sales stay below the Chatty bill minus $2.99, divided by 0.05. The table uses monthly billing unless noted.
| Example Chatty month | Bill | SparkGPT is cheaper below this much attributed sales |
|---|---|---|
| Basic, billed yearly | $16.99 | $280 |
| Basic | $19.99 | $340 |
| Pro | $68.99 | $1,320 |
| Pro plus 300 extra conversations | $188.99 | $3,720 |
| Plus | $199 | $3,920 |
| Plus plus 500 extra conversations | $399 | $7,920 |
These lines are low. Chatty is one of the cheapest live AI chat options on Shopify, and in many stores that sell steadily through chat, Chatty will cost less than 5% of attributed sales. Here are three scenarios:
A small store testing chat. The store has 250 AI conversations a month on Pro for $68.99, and the agent is credited with $1,000 in sales. SparkGPT costs $2.99 plus $50, which is $52.99.
A busy store in a slow month. The store has 800 AI conversations, so Pro costs $68.99 plus 300 extra at $0.40, which is $188.99. Most of those chats were browsers comparing options, and the agent is credited with $3,000 in sales. SparkGPT costs $152.99.
A store where chat already sells a lot. On Pro at $68.99, the agent is credited with $8,000 in sales. SparkGPT costs $402.99, and Chatty is clearly cheaper. Once attributed sales pass the line in the table, a flat conversation plan is the better deal.
The real question is which risk you want to carry. With conversation billing, a busy month full of questions from people who never buy still uses your allowance and can trigger overage. With SparkGPT, a slow month costs $2.99 and a strong month costs more, because you are paying a share of sales that actually happened.

Which one should you pick?
Pick Chatty if you want a free or low cost live chat today, you answer customers on WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger as well as your site, you need order tracking and translation in the same app, or your chat already brings in enough revenue that a flat plan is well under 5% of it. If you are also weighing Shopify's own free agent, our guide on when Shopify Inbox is enough covers that choice.
Pick SparkGPT if most of your chats come from browsers who are still deciding, your traffic swings by season and you do not want overage in busy months, or you want to pay only when a chat leads to an order you can audit. If you sell on Shopify, our guide to adding an AI sales agent to Shopify covers the setup.
Test before you decide. Run the same ten pre purchase questions through both agents on your own catalog, using our pre launch testing checklist. Then look at one month of your chat volume and count how many conversations ended without an order, because that number decides how much of a Chatty bill pays for browsing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Chatty cost in 2026?
As of October 2026, Chatty Basic costs $19.99 a month for 100 AI conversations, Pro costs $68.99 for 500 and Plus costs $199 for 1,000. Billed yearly, they work out to $16.99, $58.99 and $169.99 a month. Extra AI conversations cost $0.40 each, and a Free plan includes 50 a month.
What counts as an AI conversation on Chatty?
Chatty counts a conversation once, when it ends, if the customer started the chat or replied to a proactive message and the AI answered from your content. One customer counts once per 24 hours. Chats where a human answered first, where the AI found nothing to answer with, or that only contain welcome messages do not count.
Does Chatty charge based on sales?
No. Chatty reports assisted revenue on its homepage, but the bill is set by your plan and the number of AI conversations. SparkGPT charges $2.99 per month plus 5% of sales made within 24 hours of a chat, so its variable fee moves only with attributed sales.
Is SparkGPT cheaper than Chatty?
Often it is not, once chat sells steadily. Against Chatty Pro at $68.99 a month, SparkGPT is cheaper only while attributed sales stay below $1,320. SparkGPT is cheaper in slow months, in months with heavy browsing and overage, and in any month with no sales, when it costs $2.99.
What happens when I run out of Chatty AI conversations?
On the Free plan, the AI turns off and your team can keep replying manually. On paid plans, extra conversations are charged automatically at $0.40 each until you reach the monthly spending limit you set, which runs from $1 to $1,000. At that limit the AI pauses until the next billing cycle.
Can I try SparkGPT before switching from Chatty?
